Council supports local restriction business support grants

Horsham District Council will be distributing government-funded grants to businesses required to close during the national lockdown period.

To find out whether restrictions apply to your business, read the guidance for businesses and venues on the government’s website.

The Local Restrictions Support Grant is for businesses who receive a rates bill from the Council and are required to close during the current lockdown restrictions. A single grant to cover the four-week period will be paid to each eligible business. Businesses with more than one qualifying property will receive more than one grant.

The rate of payment for eligible businesses will be:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under, grants will be £1,334 for the four weeks
  • For properties with a rateable value of more than £15,000 and below £51,000, grants will be £2,000 for the four weeks
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or over, grants will be £3,000 for the four weeks.

Commenting on the scheme, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for the Local Economy Cllr Paul Clarke said:

“As a council we are committed to helping local businesses through this crisis.

“We very much welcomed the news that the Government was providing further support to local small businesses during this second national lockdown.

“I would urge any eligible businesses who have not done so to start applying now while the funds last.”

The Council is also working on an additional discretionary scheme to provide support to those businesses affected by the national restrictions but are not eligible for help under this round of funding.
