Road and footway improvements worth more than £19million planned in next six months

More than £19million worth of improvement works are set to take place on West Sussex’s roads and footways, starting this month and running until March 2021.

The improvements will comprise:

Road resurfacing:  £8.89million
Road patching: £6.12million
Signs and road line marking improvements: £2.00million
Microasphalt treatment*: £0.52million
Footway improvements: £1.50million

The figures include extra investment from central government of approximately £9million.

Roger Elkins, Cabinet Member for Highways and Infrastructure, said: “This is excellent news: we know how important the highways network is to people and this level of investment clearly acknowledges this.”
