NEW HORSHAM YMCA U23 MANAGEMENT TEAM ANNOUNCED, AND A BRAND-NEW YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY SQUADS FOR U18 AGE GROUP PLAYERS.

Horsham YMCA are pleased to announce the appointment of  Dean “Dixie” Laker as manager of its U23 side for the season 2020-21.  Dean will be assisted by an established coaching staff that had previously worked with him at Horsham FC.

The club is also pleased to announce that it will be running two U18 teams in the forthcoming season.  Simeon Johnson & Daniel Footit , who had previously run an U16 side at Horsham Tigers will apply their considerable football experience to run an U18 side in the Arun & Chichester League.  Dean Laker, along with Danny Fuller will run an U18 side in the Southern Combination Youth League.  Both U18 sides will benefit from the support that will be provided by the members of the youth football management team that Dean Laker has attracted to the club.

The new football structure will create the foundations for young players to embark on a development pathway into senior football in the U23 side and in the first team.

Commenting on the new football structure at the club, acting YM Chairman Mike Whiteford stated: “The re-establishment of youth football under the YM banner will enable the club to continue and expand its core mission of proving sporting opportunities for young people in our area. This has been the club’s aim throughout its 122 year history and hopefully the 20-21 season will see the club achieve success with all of its football activities.”

Although the new football arrangements will inevitably mean that the Goring Mead pitch will only be used on a regular basis by YM sides, the club is hopeful that this its existing links with other youth football clubs in the area will continue.
