Tickets for The Hawth’s first ever in-house production, TREASURE ISLAND, are selling fast with the first two performances (Friday 13 March 7pm & Saturday 14 March 3pm) already sold out.
The Robert Louis Stevenson classic will be brought to life on stage next month in a brand new adaptation being produced and directed by The Hawth Crawley.
Treasure Island features a superb cast of actors, each taking on multiple roles in order to transport audiences from the Admiral Benbow Inn, across the perilous seas to a desert island where adventure awaits. Hazel Monaghan plays Ben Gunn/Morgan/Beth, Simon Stallard takes on the roles of Black Dog/Dr Livesey/Israel Hands, Ethan Taylor is Billy Bones/Long John Silver and Kim Wright plays Mother Hawkins/Captain Smollett.
The Hawth is also using the show as an opportunity to engage local, young performers, offering 20 youngsters the chance to experience performing in a professional show. The juvenile cast auditioned for director Sarah Slator in January and were selected to take on the roles of the Young Jim Hawkins, Hawkins’ older counterpart and as members of the ensemble. Dave Watmore, who is producing the show commented, “One of the wonderful things about creating our own show is that we are in control of the casting and with an incredibly talented cast of pros it seemed like a great chance to give budding local children the chance to learn from them and experience life in a professional stage show. I’m delighted we have, because we have found some fantastic young talent and they’re a huge asset to Treasure Island.”
With innovative new staging, and live music The Hawth Studio will be transformed to transport audiences on an adventure they won’t forget. Young Jim Hawkins will be drawn into a world of revenge, pirates and the search for Captain Flint’s gold, unlikely friends will be made, sea shanties will be sung and mutiny will occur as Long John Silver and the crew sail for Treasure Island!
