Monday 20 & Tuesday 21 January 7pm, The Hawth Crawley
Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet returns to The Hawth this new year with two Tchaikovsky favourites, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty.
Under the expert direction of Marina Medvetskaya, this acclaimed company combines classical training and technique with the best-loved Russian ballets, accompanied by a full orchestra, to entertain audiences in breathtaking style.
SWAN LAKE (Monday)
The story of Prince Siegfried and the Swan Princess is a tragic tale of love that triumphs over evil. The world’s most romantic ballet is magnificently brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s sublime and haunting score, performed by a live orchestra.
THE SLEEPING BEAUTY (Tuesday)
In 2019, Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet premiered its brand new staging of the fairytale ballet, The Sleeping Beauty. Tchaikovsky’s glorious score sets the scene for the enchanting and romantic story of Princess Aurora who is rescued from a deep sleep by her valiant Prince. Wicked Carabosse and the beautiful Lilac Fairy are joined by a host of fairytale characters in this delightful production.
Saint Petersburg Theatre Classic Ballet of Marina Medvetskaya (to give the company its full title) was formed in early 1996. Though a relatively young company, the artists and staff are a cross-section of the best of the Russian tradition in Classical Ballet, whilst actively seeking to inspire a new generation of Russian and international choreographers to contribute to its repertoire.
Tickets priced £37.50 (both ballets: £62.50) are available from The Hawth Box Office on 01293 553636 and www.hawth.co.uk.
