Collyer’s students focus on film careers

The established and well known Horsham film production company Silvertip films, recently visited Collyer’s to talk to Media and Film students about production work and potential routes to a career in this competitive industry.

Director Geoff Cockwill and producer Michael Watts were impressed by the students interest and passion for film. After explaining their process to get a film made to professional standards, Geoff and Michael took wide ranging questions from students on all aspects of the industry.

Many students stayed behind for a plenary discussion after the main event, quizzing the duo in depth about their routes to their current positions and ways in which students could get their first break into the industry.

Collyer’s Head of Media Jonathan Nunns said: “These kind of visits by local professionals are brilliant! They really take creative subjects like Media and Film out of the classroom and into the real world of careers and employment. I think many students found this event an inspiration.”
