BUSINESS EXPERT AT COLLYER’S

Collyer’s recently welcomed business expert Lauren Monk (Working Options National Development Manager) who visited the college to run a workshop with students and answer questions about her career journey since leaving education.

Lucy Hargreaves, Employability Programme Co-ordinator, organised the event in conjunction with the Working Options charity. She felt the session was a huge success: “The level of student engagement and enthusiasm was impressive and testament to Lauren, who is amazing! Working Options have been incredibly supportive of our progression and employability work over the last 3 years.”

The aim of the busy and insightful session was to help students from across the college, including those currently studying the highly regarded Employability Programme, gain an understanding of career paths and how to research and apply for a variety of roles.

During the interactive presentation, students asked Lauren probing questions about the world of work, apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships, sponsored degrees, degrees and even asked for her top-tips for making a positive impression at interview!

Collyer’s Deputy Principal, Steve Martell, who teaches the Employability course, was delighted: “Huge thanks to Lauren for taking time out to help Collyer’s students plan for their futures. She is a hugely inspiring professional and today has been a big success all-round. The students absolutely loved it!”

Lauren Monk was also impressed. She said: “Collyer’s is ahead of the game and the work Lucy and Steve are doing in this area is outstanding. I’ve been very impressed with the students I’ve met today, who are actively thinking about their future career paths.”
