Affordable housing provider Stonewater has brought another 14 homes to the Horsham District, with support from Homes England and in partnership with the local council and CALA Homes.
Stonewater, a not-for-profit organisation, currently manages 139 homes in the area and a total of 903 homes across West Sussex.
In addition to building much needed affordable housing for local people on the site known as Arun Fields, Stonewater and CALA Homes have also funded the development of a play area at The Holbrook Club, a community and leisure facility, which is located next to the scheme.
The well-established Club is a hub for the local community, so Stonewater has also provided each of its new customers with a membership to the club for one year, enabling them to take part in social and sports activities at a discounted rate.
Arun Fields, located on Jackdaw Lane in Horsham, comprises of one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom houses for affordable rent, as well as two and three-bedroom houses for shared ownership sale. Shared ownership is a part-buy part-rent scheme that makes buying a brand-new home more affordable for those looking to get onto the property ladder.
Each home has been built with increased insulation and a combi boiler, which is more energy efficient and cost-saving than a cylinder system. In addition to easy access to local amenities and play areas, every home has parking provided and has its own garden or access to a communal garden.
In addition to the affordable homes, Arun Fields also features a collection of two, three and four-bedroom private homes, with just 12 private homes remaining across the development. Arun Fields provides the perfect balance between idyllic market town surroundings and high-quality living, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors with the benefit of shops, cafes and local pubs just a stone’s throw away.
This is the first development that Stonewater has worked with CALA Homes on in the South East of the country, however they are also working in conjunction with one another on two schemes further north – one in Milton Keynes and the other in Huntingdonshire.
Chris Montague, Assistant Director of Development (East), said: “The Horsham District is a very expensive part of the country, where house prices are beyond the reach of many, and where demand exceeds supply. Stonewater has an excellent working relationship with Horsham District Council, having managed houses in the area for a number of years and we are committed to delivering more beautiful homes like this in the future.”
Nick Brown, Land Director at CALA Homes South Home Counties, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Stonewater to deliver much-needed affordable homes in Horsham, particularly for those who are looking to rent or buy. What’s more, we’re always looking for ways to support the local communities in which we build so we’re also pleased to be able to bring a brand new play area to The Holbrook Club, which we hope will be loved and enjoyed by the community for many years to come.”
Cllr Tricia Youtan, Cabinet Member for Community and Wellbeing at Horsham District Council, said: “It was a great pleasure to be part of the opening ceremony for this lovely development, which encompasses really excellent accommodation for some of our residents who need help in affording homes which are well-built and in a truly excellent location. Well done Stonewater and their partner CALA Homes.
