The beautiful and tranquil Sumners Ponds in Barns Green was the venue chosen by Dandelion Farewells to hold their remembrance afternoon for those who they have supported through funeral care during the past year.
Understanding that special days and anniversaries can be especially difficult following a bereavement, the Wisborough Green based funeral directors continued to offer their support to families and friends who have experienced a loss, whilst enjoying some light refreshments in the Sumners Room.
During a relaxed and informal afternoon, guests had the chance to meet together and be amongst others who had suffered a loss, whilst having the opportunity to chat to the caring Dandelion Farewells team if they wished to do so.
Judith Dandy, owner and funeral director for Dandelion Farewells explained “We are mindful of how hard this time of year can be for families and friends. Our experience has shown us that an opportunity to chat and remember a loved one’s life, in an environment such as this without all the hustle of Christmas crowding in, can provide some much-needed respite. And, being able to be with others in a similar position and know that they really understand, is also very welcome for some. Through our aftercare support ‘Remembered Farewells’, we offer ongoing care for all our families after a funeral and it often provides comfort to know that we remember them, as they remember the person who is no longer with them.”
With some bringing friends to make the experience easier, the afternoon was filled with memories, peace, some tears and much laughter. Guests were also invited to choose a specially commissioned wooden heart with a message, as a remembrance decoration for their home, in memory of their loved one.
