The Capitol Theatre cafe gets a new look

Horsham’s Capitol Theatre cafe has recently been furnished with a fantastic range of new pictures and posters harking back to the golden age of British comedy.

The Capitol Theatre and Horsham’s very own Jack Lane (of Wisdom of a Fool & Dad’s Army Radio Show) has permanently loaned the pieces to theatre following huge interest they received  at his temporary display in the Capitol’s gallery earlier this year.

Whilst the six quad cinema posters of Norman Wisdom films have been collected by Jack over the years, the paintings of Kenneth Williams, Tommy Cooper, Norman Wisdom & Eric Morecambe were spotted by Jack when he was on tour with his one man show “Wisdom of a Fool” last year.

Displayed in the auditorium of the Alnwick Playhouse in Northumberland, these 6 ft tall images painted by local artist Viv Dykes were listed as up for sale following the news the theatre was due a refurbishment.

Once Jack found this out, he along with acting partner David Benson (Dad’s Army  Radio Show) snapped them up and brought them home, and we’re glad he did.

Why not pop along to The Capitol Theatre, grab a coffee, sit back and admire the art…..just like that!

You can see both Jack Lane and David Benson this Christmas’s in Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’. Tickets available at The Capitol Box Office.
