Dance all night as ‘My Fair Lady’ graces the Capitol Theatre stage this November

Join HAODS for an uplifting, feel good, all-singing and all-dancing evening of entertainment as they present the classic musical My Fair Lady at the Capitol in Horsham from 12 to 16 November.

Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play, Pygmalion, My Fair Lady tells the beloved tale of Eliza; a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a proper lady, an unlikely friendship begins to flourish.

Joining Eliza is a colourful cast of characters that ranges from the slums of the cockney population to the dizzy heights of Ascot’s high society, but can Eliza find her place in the world? Fall in love with the diverse and dynamic characters, stunning dance routines, comedy moments and beautiful storytelling from a 40 member strong cast in this award winning musical which promises to delight and dazzle you.

Director Yvonne Chadwell says: “It is a joy to be able to interpret characters working with our wonderful cast, finding the nuances in the language and personas. Being true to the original play, we can see the relationships build and change over time as the linguistic scientist lowers his guard to trust Pickering and admire Eliza (his creation).

The show requires a significant number of costumes and props and the backstage teams are working as hard as the actors to bring the performance alive. The orchestra is about to start rehearsing and when so many societies are using backing tracks, we continue to support live music. We hope you come along and enjoy travelling back to the early 1900’s with us.”

My Fair Lady is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including: “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”

Don’t miss out on this ‘smashing, positively dashing spectacle’ and book your tickets for a ‘loverly’ night out today! Tickets are from £19.50 and can be bought from www.thecapitolhorsham.com or by calling the Box Office on 01403 750220.
