Christ’s Hospital Choral Society are delighted to present their Christmas Concert. The evening’s music making will sweep you into the Christmas spirit, helped by the atmospheric setting of the school’s Chapel, and the complementary glass of wine and mince pie in the dining hall afterwards.
The concert features a range of seasonal music, from the well-loved carols to the more unfamiliar – but strikingly beautiful. To give you a little taster, from ‘Oh come, all ye faithful’ to Gustav Holst’s ‘Lullay my Linking’, and ‘Have yourself a merry little Christmas’ to ‘Hark the herald angels sing’. And there’s a treat if you love singing; the audience will be invited to join the choir for the better known carols!
The schools’ musical director Alex Hodgkinson will do his magic and accompany the choir on the organ. Conductor for the night will be the very talented Ruaraidh Sutherland, who will also perform ‘The Carol Rhapsody’ by Richard Purvis on the Chapel’s organ.
Looking into the future, the singers amongst you might be interested in joining CHCS’s annual workshop on Saturday 14 March when the choir will host an all-day practice of Will Todd’s ‘Mass in blue’ Please see www.chchoralsoc.org for more details.
The Christmas concert is ever popular so please book your places in advance. This will also be helpful for the catering of those lovely mince pies! Tickets from Choir members, CH Box Office, 01403 247434 (AM only). Some tickets may still be available at the door. Donations will go to support the Air Ambulance.
Do come, listen, and join in on Thursday 19 December, 7.30 PM, The Chapel, Christ’s Hospital School, RH13 0YP. A fabulous start to Christmas!
