This season, three artists from across the Atlantic will be stepping out onto the Studio stage to entertain fans of Americana at The Hawth.
Californian country singer-songwriter, Alice Wallace conjures up the atmospheric sound of the Golden State’s canyons and deserts, mountains and waves, its crowning beauty and its tragic losses, on Wednesday 9 October as she tells her own and others’ stories in The Hawth Studio. Winner of the 2017 Female Vocalist of the Year at the California Country Awards and the previous year’s Best Country/Americana Artist at the L.A. Music Critic Awards, Wallace uses an intoxicating array of vocal styles to bring her songs to life: a dusky alto, gospel-tinged belting and a soaring soprano.
Southern soul, Americana, gospel and blues – Mississippi native Lisa Mills takes the best of each these genres and utterly transforms them. By taking all those ingredients and adding the occasional dollop of jazz inflection, Mills will be serving up her own savoury-sweet mix in The Hawth Studio on Wednesday 13 November.
On Friday 17 January, Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters return, following their sell out performance in 2017. Lyrically driven, the songs blend the band’s old-school country roots attitude with their shared influences of rock and folk. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Amanda is a storyteller by nature. With her incredible band backing her on pedal steel and guitar, bass, and drums, this promises to be an evening not to be missed.
Tickets, priced £16 for each concert, are available from The Hawth Box Office: 01293 553636 and online: www.hawth.co.uk
