Top Olympic Athletes To Attend One Of Nationwide Series Of Events
Leading Australian swimming brand Zoggs is continuing its campaign to encourage and inspire more children to actively get involved in aquatic sports. Zoggs has teamed up with Total Swimming, set up by Olympian Steve Parry, to run another series of events across the country providing up to 150 FREE spaces (at each event) for kids aged 7 to 14 years old to experience different aquatic sports such as mini water polo, synchronised swimming, and fast swimming.
The Pavilions In The Park & Steyning Leisure Centre are delighted to announce that it will be hosting one of these exclusive events on Saturday 28th September 2019, which will be attended by Olympic and Commonwealth athlete, Grant Turner: London 2012 Olympian and Commonwealth Silver Medallist and Genevieve Randall: European Games Team GB squad, World team finalist 2013, Senior duet athlete 2014/2015.
The event will feature a morning or afternoon of skills and games across the different aquatic disciplines – Fast Swimming, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo, CPR, and Rookie Lifeguard – with every participant getting the chance to try each of the activities by rotating through the stations.
Each station will be led by an Olympic or Commonwealth athlete, an expert in the discipline, who will provide instruction and encourage the children.
The athletes will be introduced at the beginning of the event and the children (and their families) will have the opportunity to meet the Olympians outside of the pool for autographs, photos and the showing of Olympic and Commonwealth medals.
Each child will receive a Zoggs Oceans of Fun swimming hat and be presented with a medal at the end of the event – after having the chance to race against an Olympian!
Steve Parry (pictured on the left at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004) said: “We are really excited to have teamed up with Zoggs to run this series of Zoggs Oceans of Fun Days. Zoggs is a swim brand with a real passion for swimming and, by using role models in the form of Olympic and Commonwealth athletes, we hope to inspire, motivate and educate young people who will have the chance to come along and take part in these events for free.
“They will not only learn a huge amount at these events but get a once in a lifetime chance to swim against a top athlete and, we hope, begin to understand the benefits, and enjoyment, of adopting an active, healthy lifestyle. “
For Zoggs, the Oceans of Fun Days are a key initiative for the brand which prides itself on its passion for swimming and is thrilled to be able to bring this unique opportunity to so many children across the country.
Peter Doyle, Zoggs UK General Manager, says: “By teaming up with Steve, the Total Swimming team and working with our leisure partners we are continuing to introduce aquatic sports and activities that many children will not have had the chance to experience. We hope to not only inspire and educate everyone who comes along but for them to experience just how much fun the pool can be. The success of these events are exemplified with the children enjoying the freedom, fun, and skills regular swimming and aquatic sports can bring. This is an extremely exciting initiative for everyone at Zoggs and we are looking forward to continuing to share our love of the water with thousands of children across the country.”
