Little Street Rudgwick-awakening imagination

A very special centre for children has been created at Rudgwick, allowing them to play in safe, inspiring surroundings, using their imagination to have fun exploring a street designed with little people in mind.

Proprietor, Rebecca Wolstenholme explaining: “It is a scaled down version of a typical town, encouraging children to learn about and enjoy life in the world around them through play, stimulating their curiosity and inventiveness.” There is a pizza parlour, theatre, beauty salon, supermarket, and construction site, along with a vet’s surgery. And, there are ride on vehicles, including a large fire engine, and in addition to the post office and delivery points, there is a police station, and picnic and barbecue areas, too.                                                                           Rebecca continues, saying: “I used to take my two young sons to a Little Street Centre some way away – they loved the interactive environment with hands on play and it made a refreshing change from soft play. So, I decided to set up a centre myself as a Little Street franchisee – and its proving very popular!  The typical age range of the children is from walking up to about seven, but 8-10 year olds can still enjoy it, we are very much family orientated, with an area for snacks allowing parents to relax. Next door there is the Apple Tree Café to sample before or afterwards and we’re finding that families extend their visits by enjoying the adjacent recreation ground facilities. We are open 7 days a week and always aim to offer the best, high quality experience possible. Young children with special educational needs can also be accommodated. ”

The play sessions are pre-defined, with four sessions daily, with, at the end of each, time taken to restore the award winning Little Street concept back to its original state for the enjoyment of the next children. Pre-booking is recommended, ensuring that Little Street is not over-crowded, giving the children plenty of space to enjoy themselves, Rebecca adding: “The feedback has been excellent and its always lovely to welcome back familiar faces, but we love making new friends, too, so pay us a visit – the children are loving Little Street!”

Rudgwick’s Little Street is in the George Vth Building, the former Sports & Social Club, Guildford Road, RH12 3JJ – 01403 451677, with directions on the website – www.little-street.co.uk – e mail rudgwick@little-street.co.uk
