Horsham business named Barbershop of the year

Grizzly’s Male Hair Salon in Horsham has picked up the national accolade of Male Grooming/Barbershop of the Year at HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards 2019.

The Freshwater Parade salon has been recognised as the country’s stellar example of British barbering after beating competition from five other grooming/barber businesses across the UK.

Grizzly’s Male Hair Salon was announced the winner at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza Hotel in London. Director Chris O’Sullivan received the coveted title from Vernon Kay at the high-profile affair, which attracted peers and influencers from the hair world.

The Horsham shop proved itself a cut above its rivals with impressive business growth, turnover figures, and impactful marketing. Criteria for the win also took interior design into consideration, with Grizzly’s Male Hair Salon receiving special mention for its great décor and service offering.

Commenting on the announcement, Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Business Awards said; “Grizzly’s Male Hair Salon has crafted an amazing business, generating great customer loyalty, and a highly motivated team.

“Male grooming is the fastest growing sector in hair. Barbershops are high footfall businesses that are rewarded with incredible loyalty from their increasingly discerning customers – delivering a breadth of services that often embrace everything from wet shaves to male skincare.”

Modern Barber magazine sponsored the Male Grooming/Barbershop of the Year category. Rachel Gould, Editorial Director said: “A huge well done to the winner who deserves this national recognition. Demonstrating business leadership in this exciting sector shows vision. It’s always tough to enter awards and Grizzly’s Male Hair Salon beat some very stiff competition.”

On the win, Chris O’Sullivan, director of Grizzly’s Male Hair Salon said: “This is surreal! We had a sense of belief that we could win, which is why we entered in the first place, but we were blown away by the competition. To win this just two years after opening is an amazing achievement and it’s a testament to the team and the hard work they put in every day. When I started the salon, I made myself a wish list and winning this award was on that list, so to take it home today is truly amazing.”
