Having recently been named on Real Business’s list of the Top 25 SME Culture Leaders for 2019, Billingshurst marketing agency PMW Communications is celebrating once again, after being shortlisted in the prestigious Third Sector Awards.
The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of charities and the work done to make a real difference to society. PMW is a finalist in the Communications Agency of the Year category for a project it ran on behalf of the Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd.
The agency was tasked with promoting the charity’s Recycle with Michael scheme, which encourages young people to think about the vast amount of textiles that are sent to landfill each year. PMW aimed to inspire 100 schools from across 13 counties to sign up to collect items for recycling. The campaign was such a success that 236 schools took part, with over 64,000 pupils donating 68 tonnes of textiles. This included 7,299 pupils from 27 Sussex-based schools who collected 8.45 tonnes between them, which is the equivalent of 16 grand pianos.
Peter Sutton, Managing Director at PMW Communications, commented: “Our team works extremely hard to develop creative ideas that produce tangible results for our clients and I’m delighted that its efforts have been recognised by the judges for the Third Sector Awards.
“The campaign resonated with schools and, due to its success, we’re continuing to work with the charity to target more schools and help it raise awareness about the importance of reducing the amount of clothing items being sent to landfill.
“We look forward to attending the awards ceremony and celebrating the fantastic work done by charities across the UK.”
The Third Sector Awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 19 September at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London when the winners will be announced.
