The new Jazz Gin and Blues festival has announced its stellar line up, and with two world renowned music professionals curating the event, it does not disappoint!
Set in the Loxwood Meadow’s sheltered woodland and taking place from 12 noon through to 9pm on Sunday 18 August, this boutique Jazz, Gin and Blues festival has only 500 tickets available and has been designed to WOW!
Music lovers will become immersed in an afternoon with renowned Jazz and Blues artists including, Paz, Jazz Train, Harry Greene Quintet, Simon Bates Big Band, Tim Staffell and Paul Stewart, whilst relaxing in a tranquil woodland glade and enjoying sumptuous food and drink.
With further additions expected to be announced in the coming weeks, DJ Alan Milliner from Shoreditch Jazz Institution is also confirmed to be spinning discs, so as to provide continuous Jazz and Blues, even whilst the performers change over.
Along with gin from the local gin producers Cabin Pressure Spirits, Madame Jennifer Distillery, The Gin Kitchen and Slake Spirits; Langham Brewery and Loxwood Meadworks will be providing real ale and mead to accompany an exciting mix of local food stalls, including vegetarian options, to complete the perfect afternoon.
Mo Bacon, organiser of the event, with Simon Bates said: “This is an exciting event for Simon and I, as we are bringing together some of the finest Jazz and Blues players in the country. And, for many, it will be the first time that they will hear these music legends play live, before having the opportunity to meet and talk with them after their sets.”

Simon Bates Big Band
Simon’s playing features on countless adverts, film scores, television shows and pop recordings and he has worked with many artists including Kylie Minogue, Elvis Costello, Jamie Cullum, Seal, Beverley Knight, and the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band. He runs the Loxwood Jazz Club and the Simon Bates Big Band which includes top musicians from the BBC Big Band, Jools Holland Big Band, Jamie Cullum and Ronnie Scott’s bands, featuring in the line-up on Sunday 18th.
Tim Staffell and Paul Stewart
Paul Stewart & Tim Staffell were important contributors to the original Rhythm & Blues explosion in the ‘sixties. Paul was lead singer and harp player with legendary R&B band ‘The Others’, while Tim was lead singer and bass player in the pre-Queen power trio ‘Smile’ with Brian May & Roger Taylor. Playing an authentic selection of traditional and modern blues flavoured music, with its roots firmly in those times, the duo features close harmony, guitar interplay and blues harp.
Latin fusion band PAZ was founded in the 70’s and the band’s first album quickly became popular on the club scene, with subsequent albums topping the jazz charts. PAZ is now helmed by the dazzling keyboard player Geoff Castle and features the amazing bass of Rob Statham, Mike Bradley on drums, award winning alto saxophonist Matt Wates, guitarist Dominic Grant and very entertaining percussion from Chris Fletcher.
Saxophonist/Guitarist Harry Greene runs his own Quintet and writes and arranges for the ‘Ashton Jones Project,’ a funk/soul band recently showcased at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. In addition, he records and tours nationally and internationally with Afrobeat band ‘Afrik Bawantu’

‘Jazztrain Shoreditch’ Promoter and DJ Alan Milliner will be bringing a mixed bag of both great and unusual jazzelicious sounds along with cool n’ comfy treats from their London Jazz Club collections.
