Horsham Lawn Tennis Club – opening grass court tournament
Martin Read – Sports Reporter

Horsham Lawn Tennis Club is delighted to announce that the grass courts are
now open for the summer season, this year’s unveiling being marked by an
American tournament, played on both the grass and hard courts at the Club.
The event was greatly enjoyed by 30 entrants – the winners (pictured) were
Sophie Kitson and Dominic Robeson.
In its most pleasant setting, just a short distance from the town centre, the
Club is very fortunate to have 4 grass courts, which are once again in
excellent condition, and five hard courts (floodlit for use up to 10pm each day
throughout the year). The tennis is spread across teams playing in leagues,
with social tennis, coaching and a strong junior section. New players are
always encouraged, and, subject to court availability, non members are also
most welcome to play at the Club on a ‘Pay and Play’ basis via the Club office
or bar.
Information about joining is available on the Club website membership page or from the Club during office
hours. Visitors thinking of joining the Club are warmly received and may
participate (without charge) in a Mixed Social Tennis session on the first
Wednesday evening of each month from 18.30 to 20.00.
There is a Practice Wall available, excellent showers and changing facilities,
ample free car parking, and the Club is also well served by buses stopping in
the nearby Worthing Road. The coaching provided is on an individual or group
basis, for juniors and adults of all standards. There is also a re-stringing
service and an excellent bar in the clubhouse.
