You may remember when we reported on the closing of the Horsham Matters store on East Street. Along with that news we told you that an exciting new restaurant called Minami-Za would be filling the vacant space.
Well there isn’t long to wait as work is underway to bring you this restaurant-Japan fusion, that will have a small South African twist.
Providing its customers with a beautiful eating establishment that has the aim of bringing nostalgia back to the table with its classic Japanese food, a music lounge and an experience that is like no other currently in the town, hopes are high as the initial work inside begins.
The dream of owner Nero Gilissen is becoming a reality, and he can’t wait to share it with you, “Minami-za will bring excitement to East Street, with a music lounge focusing on Jazz and Blues, an open plan kitchen that allows people to see all that is happening and the chance to enjoy Japanese cusine with a small South African twist, not forgetting our deli of course where you can buy ingredients to experiment making your own dishes at home.”
Horsham is becoming a hotbed of live music right now with venues like the rec rooms regularly bringing us a variety of musical acts and Nero plans for his to be no different, “This will be quality music on your doorstep. A jazz/blues vibe that you may only normally find in London for example.” He says.
With local produce from local suppliers being sourced, Nero is keen to promote a community feel and that doesn’t stop at the suppliers. When the lounge isn’t hosting music events it is available for hire, “It is for the community, whether a business would like to use it for a meeting, somebody would like a party or an educational group would like to use it to hold a session. Anybody can hire it for use.”
Minami-za is due to open in the Summer, in the meantime register your interest at www.minami-za.com
