The Bridge Leisure Centre are inviting Horsham residents to join them in raising funds this Red Nose Day. On Friday 15 March, up to 200 participants will come together to dance, jiggle and boogie their way through a series of dance tracks as they Dance the Distance® for Comic Relief.
Dance the Distance® is a great-big-group-exercise event that takes participants on an incredible journey, experiencing different dance styles and enjoying a wide variety of music that will guarantee smiles all round. The event is approximately equivalent to running or walking 5km in steps and calories, but is guaranteed to be more fun. It’s also a very social and alternative way of fundraising for some great causes.
Dance the Distance® is a product of EMD UK, the national governing body for group exercise in the UK. With the boom in recent years of running events as a way of raising vital charity funds, EMD UK identified the need to provide alternatives for those who wouldn’t naturally choose to run and would rather dance! The aim is to get more people enjoying group exercise and raising money for a range of good causes.
Dance the Distance® instructor, Maria, said: “We’re pleased to be working on this new initiative with EMD UK. Group exercise is a large part of our programme at The Bridge and it’s great that we can use group exercise to raise funds for a worthy cause. Whether you are a regular class goer, new to group exercise, or currently don’t do much exercise at all, we’d encourage you to come and join our dance party. The choreography is easy to follow, designed to be fun and there will be a great atmosphere on the day”.
