Horsham District Council Chairman, Cllr Peter Burgess, and Vice Chairman, Cllr Kate Rowbottom, opened the Sussex Elder Recovery Service on Monday 4 February at their inaugural meeting.
The service supports people over the age of 55 who have suffered some form of harm, either physical, mental, financial or otherwise, and need assistance to recover from their trauma.
Victims are assessed and then allocated a dedicated case worker. Case workers operate on a voluntary basis and can work with clients for up to 12 months.
The service has been operating in Fife, Essex, and East Sussex for some years and is now being rolled out to West Sussex.
