Country and Americana band from the UK, The Southern Companion come to The Hawth Studio on Monday 4 March, fusing all the music they love into ‘a sonic whirlpool where the UK and US currents meet’.
Recent winners of two British Country Music Association awards – The Horizon (Best Newcomer) and Album of The Year. Singer-songwriter and lead vocalist Darren Hodson is joined by musicians who’ve played with artists including Tom Jones, Lulu, Rumer, James Morrison, Lana Del Rey, Pete Townsend, Jon Allen, John Isley and Vanessa Mae.
There’s an Americana Double Bill to look forward to on Sunday 28 April as singer songwriter Michael Logen returns to The Hawth having last appeared as part of the sell-out A Night In Nashville show. His work brings the poetry and lyrical depth of the folk and country music tradition into the infectious melodies and subtle grooves of a singer songwriter.
Aaron Benward and Scott Reeves are the Nashville country music duo Blue County, and they’re also no strangers to The Hawth. Blue County has received three Country Music Association, and three Academy of Country Music award nominations. Their Billboard Country hits include the iconic singles Good Little Girls and That’s Cool. To see them performing alongside Logen is a real treat.
Singer-songwriter Danny Schmidt from Austin, Texas was named as one of the ’50 Most Significant Songwriters in the Last 50 Years’ by the Chicago Tribune and he will be demonstrating why on Wednesday 15 May.
Danny is renowned for his poetic, poignant lyrics that have drawn comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt, and with fantastical narratives reminiscent of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Salman Rushdie.
Tickets: £16 (for each concert), available from The Hawth Box Office: 01293 553636 and online: www.hawth.co.uk.
