In the third round of the competition this year, local people cast their votes for the charity of their choice via email, Facebook and in store. Jack and Jill Pre-school was the clear winner, and has been presented with a cheque for £500.
The charity works to provide quality, inclusive care and education for children aged two to 12 years. It offers a place where children can explore, create and discover the world in a safe and nurturing environment. Founded 24 years ago, the pre-school is based in Littlehaven Infant School, and last year opened a second site at Northolmes Junior School. The money will go towards renewing the soft flooring under the climbing equipment to ensure a safe and stimulating setting for the children.
The group now joins the Holbrook Animal Rescue Centre and 4The Youth in D.W. Nye’s line-up of 2018 winners. One more winner will be found by the end of the year.
Diane Shanley from Jack and Jill Pre-school commented: “The funding, and the huge support we’ve received, has given us an incredible boost. The campaign has recognised our work to provide quality childcare for local families. We’re very lucky to have an amazing team of people who make it all possible. We all feel very Proud to be Local!”
Rex Nye, Managing Director at D.W. Nye, added: “Huge congratulations to Jack and Jill. It’s with great pleasure that we’ve found out more about the charity’s work with local children and have been able to assist the team’s tireless efforts.”
One final opportunity to nominate a local charitable cause in 2018 is available from now until Sunday 18 November. Members of the public can email details of their chosen charity to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, write to D.W. Nye Proud to be Local c/o PMW Communications, Stane Court, Stane Street, Billingshurst, RH14 9HP. Include a description of how the money would benefit, along with a contact name and telephone number.
