Still time to win free travel for your local school or extra-curricular group

Southern Transit is reminding the county’s residents that there is still time to nominate their local school or extra-curricular group to win free travel as part of its 2018 ‘Splendid Trips’ campaign.

Launched earlier this year, amidst the ongoing educational funding crisis in Sussex, Southern Transit – one of Sussex’s leading and last remaining independently run bus and coach companies – has already treated Southgate and Storrington Primary Schools to free travel. The schools took their pupils on their planned trips to Chessington World of Adventures and Fishers Farm respectively, but thanks to the free travel, collectively saved over £1500.

Southern Transit is now offering two more free trips in 2018 and is inviting anyone – parents, friends, teachers, leaders, and Sussex residents alike – to nominate schools and extra-curricular groups (Scouts, Brownies, charity groups, youth and sports clubs etc), who could benefit from free travel for their children.

The prize on offer is free day-return travel, in October or December 2018, on one of Southern Transit’s new 72-seater ‘Citymaster’ vehicles, to a destination within the South of England. That’s not all though – to make sure the youngsters certainly do have a ‘Splendid Trip’, the bus company will also organise a special, surprise treat for the guests aboard the bus.

Sue Rose, Operations Director at Southern Transit, commented: “I’m sure all of us remember our school outings and look back with fond memories. It would be a terrible shame if today’s youngsters were unable to benefit from the same learning and friendship building experiences outside of the classroom, because the school’s purse-strings simply don’t allow it.

“Whilst I appreciate we cannot help every organisation, I hope that parents, teachers, and Sussex residents alike can see the merits of our ‘Splendid Trips’ campaign. The benefit of us offering travel on one of our Citymasters is that we can fit more people on board, in comparison to standard coach hire, allowing more children to enjoy a day out. We look forward to receiving the next batch of nominations over the coming months and announcing our next winners.”

Nominations should be emailed to southerntransit@pmwcom.co.uk or posted to Southern Transit’s ‘Splendid Trips’, c/o PMW Communications, Stane Court, Stane Street, Billingshurst, West Sussex. RH14 9HP. Every nomination should include the school or organisation’s name, contact details, planned trip destination and potential dates (Oct or Dec only), along with the nominee’s contact details.

The closing date for the second round of nominations is midnight on Friday 21 September 2018.
