The team at Bluecoat Sports Health and Fitness Club have unveiled five new pieces of fitness equipment in their gym, which occupies two floors of the centre, in a bid to offer further choice to the way members train.

The new cardio and weight lifting equipment has also been chosen to maximise space and the club’s Fitness Manager Liam Yeates has stated he is delighted with the investment.

Increased choice for members

The new equipment features two SkiErgs, two assault bikes and a lift zone.

The SkiErg has been designed for double-poling and has a two armed pull as you’d expect from Nordic skiing. As a user alternates arm motions, it’s a good aerobic exercise and builds strength through the body. An added benefit for practicalities is that the machines are easy to move, so are flexible for users.

Each new assault air bike is ideal for a ‘default’ exercise and lets users modify movement in a workout; the bike is completely powered by the user via a fan system. It’s designed for building power with sprints, endurance by going at a steady space, and working both the upper and lower body at the same time.

Finally, a new lift zone has been developed, partly in response to the success of sessions like women’s weights. The new lifting platform and two Olympic bars with more bumper weights will open up the space to more people, providing room for all barbell and Olympic lifting movements.

A welcome addition

Sarah Aslin, Front of House and Marketing Manager states, “We continually work to create a motivational environment for our members which provides everyone with the choice they need to develop their fitness.

In the last few years we have refurbished both our swimming and gym facilities, responding in part to an increased demand for weight lifting. Earlier this year our plans to install a track on site were approved, and we look forward to launching more added benefits for our members in the future.”
