Previous winners of the popular town centre event, the ‘Bluecakes’ will be back this year with the hope of crossing the finish line first at the 10th Annual Horsham Rotary Charity Pancake Race.

The team’s chosen charity is Medical Detection Dogs, an organisation that uses the power of dogs’ incredible sense of smell to detect human diseases, including cancer, as well as medical alert assistance dogs. Assistance dogs help people living with dangerous health conditions and through complex training, offer practical support to people of all ages.

After the Pancake Race, which takes place on Tuesday 13th February at 12-noon, the club will host Medical Detection Dogs for a talk on Friday 2nd March at 10:30am.

Sarah Aslin, Front of House and Marketing Manager states, “The talk will be a great opportunity for the community to learn more about this worthy cause, where there will also be a cake sale to raise further funds.

Education around how this charity can help detect disease and achieve early diagnosis is something we’re proud to support”.

In March the team will also be supporting Mel’s Milers Jogging Club, who are based at the club, by hosting a 10k race taking place on Sunday 25th March, also raising funds for Medical Detection Dogs.

The race starts at the avenue by the quadrangle of Christ’s Hospital School and the club’s facilities can be used for the event, including showers and changing rooms. After the race, the awards presentation will take place in the upstairs cafe.

Entrants can fill in a form online here and the charitable donation will be made from the proceeds of the race. In 2017, the race had 348 entrants registered with CTUK (Chip Timing UK) to record their results.
