Carmela – Horsham’s iconic restaurant is back! The beautiful 16th century building at the corner of Denne Road and East Street has been refurbished and there is a new menu – showcasing top quality Mediterranean cuisine at its very best, with the trademark Carmela Sicilian twist. The family run business has many years experience of lovingly preparing their own creations of fresh, mouth-watering specialities with a wide range of delicacies to suit all tastes from classic meat and fish dishes to vegetarian delights, home made pasta and wonderful pizzas. The restaurant is fully licensed and is ideal for parties (private functions can take advantage of the dedicated upstairs dining suite), or for an exceptionally pleasant lunch or dinner. Carmela has just won a coveted Lux Food and Drinks Best Italian Restaurant Award, after being nominated by happy customers. The customers love the unique, friendly and unhurried atmosphere in such an attractive medieval building, the rustic charm providing the perfect setting for a memorable gastronomic experience with special bespoke service. On warmer days the terrace really buzzes, too! And, there is a private room with free Wi-Fi, much appreciated for business meetings in a unique location. When Rossella Raciti opened Carmela with her brother Francesco seven years ago they described it as “a dream come true.” And, in response to public demand, Carmela’s opened their delicatessen in 2012 in the Carfax, with its sumptuous array of succulent Italian specialities not available elsewhere in the town, to eat in or take away. Francesco told the District Post: “I have been in Horsham most of my adult life and wanted to bring something new and fresh at Carmela. We pride ourselves in being different from the other restaurants – truly independent and authentic!”
Carmela is strongly recommended for an unforgettable visit – but, be warned, the rare treats are addictive!
