A West Sussex care home has celebrated 10 years of providing residential care.
Mill River Lodge, in Horsham, which is owned and operated by Shaw healthcare, marked the occasion with drinks, cake and entertainment from guitarist, John Paul Miller. Residents, staff and relatives were joined in the celebrations by special guests, Abbie Johnson, contracts manager at West Sussex County Council, and Liam Scanlon, director of quality and governance for Shaw.
One resident, Shirley Carter, has been living at the home since it opened and has enjoyed the variety of activities that take place. Ms Carter, 82, who was brought up in Horsham said: “There is always something to do here, whether it is sewing, knitting and embroidery, or watching old classic films and reading. I also look forward to my eggy bread on Sunday morning.”
Deputy home manager, Doreen Holmes, said: “It was a lovely way to mark the occasion. I have a great team here who work so hard to provide the high standard of care we deliver, and I couldn’t be prouder. We’re looking forward to continuing to provide excellent care for our residents – here’s to the next 10 years.”
