Month-long mouth-watering morsels, magic menus and mighty meals
If you’re a food and drink lover then there is no better place to visit than the Horsham district this September. Organised by Horsham District Council, this year’s Food and Drink Festival kicks off on the first weekend in September with the incomparable Big Nibble in Horsham Town. This year the Festival and year long Food and Drink Guide is sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses and, as usual, contains four weeks of fantastic special offers, events and promotions, with all the contact details for every business taking part, and a handy map to help you locate them. Keep it for the year – you never know when you might need it!
The September Festival is literally district wide and there’s plenty of choice for everyone. With over 150 events or offers from restaurants, bars and cafes to markets, from retailers to farmers, farm shops and producers, you have an excellent opportunity and the perfect excuse to investigate the district’s renowned local food and drink offer. ‘Your Local Food and Drink Guide 2017/18’ will be available in early August. Secure your copy by picking one up at this year’s Big Nibble or from participating business, or other outlets, including district libraries and leisure centres. You can also download one online or by contacting the Council on 01403 215264.
Steyning: The Festival within a Festival
Once again, the stunning market town of Steyning has organised its own ‘Festival within a Festival’. With over 50 events and offers, Steyning’s own Festival dovetails neatly with the District wide activities and this year it is bigger than ever. With its own major section in the Local Food and Drink Guide, you have the option to spend some serious time visiting, with a programme of events and a selection of special offers that will leave you hungry for more.
The District’s Market Towns
For the very first time this year ‘Your Local Food and Drink Guide’ will showcase events and offers from businesses across the District’s Market Towns. Billingshurst, Henfield and Storrington celebrate their local food and drink offer with their own sections in the Guide.
The Cream of the Crop
As in previous years, Horsham District Businesses feature strongly amongst the finalists for this year’s Sussex Food and Drink Awards, which recognise and support Sussex food businesses. This year is the 12th running of the awards and the finalists in various categories were announced at The Big Reveal event on 10 July. Now you can vote for your favourites, but do it soon, as voting closes on 19 September. The District is certainly blessed as far as local produce is concerned, with many award winning artisan producers, micro-breweries, vineyards, fantastic farms and farm shops and independent retailers, as well as scrumptious eateries serving up local fayre. Don’t miss out on your chance to support local business – VOTE NOW! www.sussexfoodawards.biz
