The Shelley Arms, in Broadbridge Heath, will be holding its annual charity funday tomorrow (Saturday 2 September), following last year’s success. Event organiser, Jodie Munday, explained: “This year, we are raising money for a very special person who works tirelessly for our local music scene! The legend that is Mr Fred Ball. He has worked here at The Shelley Arms (and a whole load of other music venues in the area) for a very long time, bringing the best sound possible to all musicians and audiences.”
Fred has suffered with chronic hearing loss – more so in recent years. It is hoped that the event will raise £5,000 to purchase new hearing aids, to enable him to continue being a vital part of the music scene.
Visitors to the charity funday can expect: Live music all day, various stalls (including a cake stall and sweet stall), a bouncy castle, BBQ, hair braiding, dance displays, drumming workshops, candyfloss machine, pamper zone, homemade foods, magician, balloon modelling and much more.
The official sponsor for ‘Music to Fred’s Ears’ is South East Hearing Centre, Horsham. Donations can be made by following: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/musictofredsears
