If you’re looking for a quintessential Village Fete, then head to Wisborough Green on Bank Holiday Monday, 28 August. The popular annual event, in the centre of this pretty village, attracts visitors from a wide area and is jam packed with fantastic games and activities for the whole family.
The Fun Dog Show is always a hugely popular event, with classes ranging from the Best Veteran to Best Junior Handler. The show will be judged for the second year running by professional show judge and dog breeder, Sue Garner.
For keen gardeners, the horticultural show tent is a must. A glorious celebration of the hard work, ingenuity (and competitiveness!) of enthusiastic local gardeners and cooks alike.
There’s an opportunity for the whole family to join in traditional games and races; new this year, the ancient art of Wellie Wanging has arrived in the village, so time to test your skills in this competitive, addictive fun game. Younger visitors can enjoy the delights of hook a duck, traditional swingboat rides, bouncy castles and face painting.
After browsing the lovely stalls in the fete market, viewing the vintage vehicles or the ferret racing, try your luck at the tombola or high striker, and there’s no better way to relax than to grab some refreshments and listen to the perennially popular Worthing Silver Band, or tuneful newcomer, Dutch street organ, Matilda.
Apart from being a wonderful, traditional family day out, the Wisborough Green fete has, over the last ten years, raised almost £30,000 for local charities and organisations.
Event takes place on Monday 28 August, from 1pm at Wisborough Green.
