Horsham Festival events at The Capitol

As part of Horsham Festival’s 2017 line up of events The Capitol are proud to present three magnificent music shows:

Horsham Music Circle in association with The Capitol presents ‘An Evening of Song with Dame Felicity Lott’ on Saturday 8 July at 7.30pm. One of Britain’s best-loved sopranos, Dame Felicity is joined by the acclaimed accompanist Graham Johnson. The programme includes the favourite opera arias ‘Lascia ch’ io pianga’ from Handel’s ‘Rinaldo’, ‘Romance de l‘Étoile’ from ‘L’Étoile‘ and ‘Chanson de l’Alouette’ from ‘Le Roi malgré lui‘ both by Chabrier; Four arias from Offenbach’s ‘La Perichole’ including ‘Dites-lui’ and ‘Ah! Que j’aime les militaires!’ And songs by Schumann, Britten and Noel Coward’s ‘If Love were all’, ‘Alice is at it Again’, and ‘The Bar on the Piccola Marina’.

Horsham Folk Club presents ‘The Noble Jacks’, a rip-roaring Alt-Folk band with roof raising energy, whose warm electro-acoustic interactions fuse together with a mixture of upbeat folky footstompin’ rhythms and engaging lyricism. The band encompasses heartfelt, yet uptempo songs showcasing fiddle, blues harmonica and big anthem toplines. Supported by top-class members of Horsham Folk Club, be quick to book if you want to see them in The Capitol Studio on Sunday 9 July at 7.30pm.

‘The Speakeasy Revival Orchestra’, a fantastic Sussex-based seven piece jazz ensemble who perform with energy, flair, and an extra comedy twist, will play in The Capitol Studio on Tuesday 11 July at 7.45pm. Drawing on influences as diverse as Spike Jones and his City Slickers, Mnozil Brass, and the Post Modern Jukebox, these fine experienced musicians perform classic and original music, all in their own inimitable style. Caution, this performance may include hats, puppets, barbershop singing, and loud bangs, along with spectacular musicianship and some cracking tunes!
