Horsham Artists Open Studios Art Trail

Art Trail artists HAOS 2017

Horsham Artists Open Studios is once again presenting their annual Art Trail. During the week-ends of July 8/9 and 15/16, the group will open doors to their studios, and other venues in the Horsham, to the public.

This year, 26 artists will take part and, with an especially designed map of the local area, visitors will be able to plan visits to the 12 exhibition venues, where they will be able to meet the 26 artists, talk, see their work, be inspired, and have a great day out.

The map will also provide full details about the availability of parking, refreshments, access arrangements and toilets, as well as list of artists and makers, with an accompanying thumbnail image of their work, to help with route planning.

Yvonne Clements is new to the Art Trail. For her, it was a move to the countryside that gave her work a new lease of life. She feels a strong connection with the flora and fauna of our gentle county and aims to convey this love and joy, both in her detailed fine art pieces and her semi-abstract floral landscapes. She is in her element at this time of year, when the grass verges come alive with wild flowers, and she’s inspired to put brush to canvas. Last year, Yvonne was a visitor on the Art Trail and this year she’s very excited to be taking part.

Well-established painter Lindsey Pearson said: “I adore the true spontaneity achieved by using Watercolour and Earth inks as my media. They allow vibrancy and fabulous light qualities to emerge on paper. Sometimes they present quite a challenge to use, but the outcomes can prove totally satisfying.” Lindsey has a special passion for painting Venetian scenes and regularly travels to Venice, where she paints in quiet Piazzas: “Recently, I’ve started experimenting with vintage dress making paper patterns in my collages, representing the construction of Venice. Earth inks add even more depth and luscious bold colour.”

Brenda Finch is another successful new member. After a life of teaching Art she followed her ambition to give sculpting a go, and loves it. She’s been based at Sussex Sculpture Studios for the past ten years where she produces the most wonderful work.

Full details and the venues, where you will be able to pick up a Trail Map, are available on the HAOS website at: http://www.horshamartistsopenstudios.co.uk and at: www.facebook.com/HorshamArtistsOpenStudios
