On Sunday 7th May, as part of Horsham’s English Festival, The Loxwood Joust is pre-viewing some of the activities, entertainment and food that will be found at its two weekends of mediaeval mayhem in August.
Throughout the day, in the demonstration area, situated in the Market Square outside Bills café and restaurant, four fully armoured knights will provide displays of weaponry and combat. In addition there will be talks on the weapons, showing how and what they were used for and always eager to answer questions, or provide information on their characters, these fine ‘battle ready’ knights will also be available to pose for any photos that may require ‘a knight in shining armour’!
In addition, a mediaeval leather worker will be demonstrating the skills of his trade and The Green Man catering company will be tempting visitors with ‘saucy trollops sausages’ to alleviate any ‘battle weary’ hunger pangs.
However, no mediaeval event would be complete without the traditional bottle of Mead and The Loxwood Joust’s own meads, Traditional, Tournament and Christmas blends, will be available for purchase from the information stand, along with a selection of floral circlets and children’s toy armour and weaponry.
Now in its sixth year, The Loxwood Joust will be again stepping back in time on the 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th August to portray the verve and vigour of a world where lives were harsh and hearts were passionate at these unique, fun and educational days out for all the family. Located at the enchanted Loxwood Meadow, The Loxwood Joust is the most spectacular mediaeval festival in the Realm and hosts an unrivalled programme of mediaeval mayhem. So, come and find us at Horsham’s English Festival to find out more!
