Exciting programme for Easter’s Piazza Italia

An exciting three days of events and entertainments are offered at the Pizza Italia event over the Easter weekend. Details of the individual days follow.

Good Friday April 14
Ferrari Friday is back. The Sussex Ferrari Owners Club’s display will feature 100 Ferraris including the 10am Ferrari catwalk cars which go on to park at the Forum and about 25 Ferraris that will drive through at the beginning and end of the main car display, at 12.15 and 3.30pm respectively. The team from The Italian Job.com charity will bring their special band of Mini mania driving through the Carfax at 10.30am on their way to a display in the Bishopric.
Easter’s Horsham Churches’ Together Walk of Witness starts from two locations this year: St.John’s Catholic Church in Springfield Court and the Brighton Road Baptist church, New Street entrance, converging at the bandstand for the traditional town Easter service from 11.00am to 11.45am.
The day’s Venetian theme gives every visitor a chance to join in the fun by wearing carnival masks, bought or self-made and taking and posting #piazzaitalia selfie photos at a number of shop themed windows around the town. Partners Non Stop Party Shop have a selection of ready-made or DIY masks.
Live performances of ‘Will Shakespeare’s’ recently discovered playlet ‘Two Gentlemen of Horsham’, will be brought to the festival by patron Brock Taylor Estate Agents. The play will be performed throughout the day as well as a Carfax bandstand finale at 3.30pm right after the cars leave.
Easter Saturday April 15
Piazza Italia’s equivalent of Mel and Sue, Tony and Tim Fifield, host a foodie themed Easter Saturday with a fun demonstration kitchen from Bradley Stoves, featuring the ‘macarooner’, Johnny from Vice Puddings, cooking demos from our local and Italian Markets and maybe just a little dollop of slapstick humour. Both the Bishopric and Carfax Horsham Markets will be trading across the day.
Saturday is once again Piazza Italia’s big family entertainment day and Horsham Churches Together will bring their hugely popular ‘Messy Church’ activities to the Forum with an Easter Piazza Italia twist. A variety of paid for children’s rides will also be on the Forum throughout the whole event with all of this supported by Swan Walk located Toy Barnhaus who have a limited number of model Lamborghinis to be given away free on Good Friday.
Mortimer’s Prestige will present a range of Italian classics in the Market Square while The Children’s Trust’s Supercar Event will take centre stage in the Carfax with a ’chocolate box’ of supercars that are but a small sample of what people can ride in at their own Dunsfold event on June 24.
Easter Monday April 17
Easter Monday’s popularity has been growing with visitors year by year thanks to its eclectic mix of Supercars and spectacular finale entertainment. Not Italian but super still, Mclaren Owners UK return with an exciting display to take over the Market Square for the day and the popular Bullseye Italian scooters and friends will be in East Street, allowing for a larger display of machines. The Easter Monday excitement is cranked up further thanks to the introduction of two partners that bring seriously enjoyable new content for visitors.

Storrington based Premier GT take on the role of Supercar sponsor and organiser with no effort being spared to deliver a spectacular selection of display vehicles in the Carfax competing for the Premier GT Concourse Award in association with charity Winstons Wish. Premier GT are also providing the new ‘Race Paddock’ just over the RSA bridge at the council’s Parkside building next to The Black Jug Pub in Chart Way. Special displays of Moto GP bikes Including Barry Sheene’s Suzuki , Race cars including and an F1 Benetton driven by Michael Schumacher , F1 simulators and a go-kart circuit are planned, along with a Piazza Italia first, the record breaking Bugatti Veyron – thanks to another new partner, Treble 2.

Also at Parkside are two Piazza Italia Catwalk Fashion Shows planned for 11.00am and 2.00pm featuring women’s, men’s and children’s ranges from stores including M&S, La Vida, Jigsaw, JoJo Maman Bebe and Gerry Weber. Additional participants are subject to confirmation.

In a grand finale, in keeping with Monday’s Italian music and art theme, Tony Fifield and full cast perform at the Carfax bandstand just after the display cars departure at 3.30pm.

The programme is subject to change and to weather conditions. Catch all the latest event news, a full programme, videos and photos on www.horshampiazzatialia.co.uk and Horsham Piazza Italia’s own facebook, instagram and twitter pages.
