Students got a taste of working life when they visited Strada restaurant in Horsham.
Youngsters from Year 7 at Farlington School got to make their own pizzas at the popular eating spot East Street as part of the experience of the workplace.
The students visited as part of the careers curriculum, to gain knowledge of the workplace environment. They were given the chance to have a good look around the restaurant and saw where and how the orders were taken, where the automated orders arrived in the kitchen, and how the orders were then distributed among the four working stations.
The children all had a go at ordering something from the menu and were given a tour of
the storerooms, including the walk-in fridge.
Girls were then given the opportunity to make their own pizza under the professional
guidance of Santo, the head chef. The pizzas were then cooked and boxed and the girls
brought them back to school to eat at lunch time.
The school said: “Feedback from the girls was wonderful. They thoroughly enjoyed making their own pizzas and found the workings behind the scene really interesting.”
