Fun on the Run with 100 Pancake Flippers, 12 Mascots and Dave

Another crazy Pancake Race Day hits Horsham on Tuesday 21st February. ….it’s not even the correct day …how weird is that ?   In Horsham we have brought the event forward one week so that it coincides with the children’s half-term holiday.

There will be 12 massive mascots competing in the Ringway Giant Egg & Spoon Races including a Dog, Horsham’s Dragon, Lion, Pig, Hound, Nando’s Chicken, and Horsham FC’s very own star Howie the Hornet.

There is a superb entry of over 25 teams in this year’s Pancake Races including teams from our large stores with  Sainsburys ( 2009 and 2012 winners) , John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis going head to head ; local service companies Kreston Reeves ( ex Spofforths), Harris Lord Recruitment, GL & Co, Benchmark Capital, SLS Services, Horsham Mortgage Centre, and Cranfold Physical Therapy ; sporty companies Bluecoat Sports ( last year’s winners) and Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre; Charities such as  Dame Vera Children’s Charity, Horsham Y Centre, Amber Foundation, Action Medical Research and Horsham Rotary Club; and HSBC and  Spirit fm.   .


If you are not in a Team, come along  to the Carfax on Tuesday 21st and join in the fun  between Noon and 2pm..and don’t forget to bring the kids. Top Children’s TV entertainer Dave Benson Phillips will be compering the event and DJ Andy Lake will be providing the music.   It will be flippin’ fantastic.    


Horsham‘s 8th  annual Pancake Races are organised once again by the Rotary Club of  Horsham with support from Horsham District Council.  Sainsbury’s and the Non Stop Party Shop are sponsoring the Prizes for the overall Winning Team and the Team with the Best Fancy Dress, whilst Ringway are providing the Racing Arena. Sainsbury’s are providing the Pancakes, Sugar and lemon Juice !!   Waitrose are presenting the ‘Oldies’ Cup for the Winning Team with all racers being over 40 years of age, and Rawlison Butler and South East Hearing Centres will be giving the Best Flipper and Best Individual Fancy Dress prizes.


All proceeds will go to charity, with the charity chosen by the winning team and the most nominated charity across all teams receiving a third of the money each. The remaining third will be won by the best Charity Team in the races.
