Moe’s party at Horsham Ice Rink excels for Macmillan!

The owners of the Horsham Ice Rink at Camping World, Brighton Road kindly allowed local DJ and children’s entertainer Moe Pearce to adopt two evening sessions last week as fundraisers for the Sussex Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. The joint was jumping with large, enthusiastic crowds of children and parents enjoying skating to music, helped by a few steadying penguins. Moe was delighted that the event raised around £1,200 for the state of the art Macmillan Horizon Centre, the hub of the Sussex Cancer Network across the county from west to east, and he told the District Post: “The rink proprietors have been great – not only have they agreed to let us takeover the evening, but they’ve also donated part of the ticket price. The café at the rink gave us 10% of their takings, and Specsavers handed us £125 – and a printer to auction – along with £50 Marks & Spencer and John Lewis vouchers provided by Pinnacle Lettings and Wells Independent Property Brokers. And, some musical friends have given us some dance classes for prizes, too. We’ve also had great support for the tombola. Everybody has been wonderful!”

Sue, Moe’s inspirational wife, has received long term treatments at the Centre, which also conducts research and has the vision of becoming a fully fledged teaching hospital, Moe adding: “They’re fantastic, so caring, that’s why I wanted to help them towards their expensive running costs.”
