Horsham’s independent Dual Strength + Fitness gym has just celebrated a very positive first anniversary, and want to share their success with District Post readers – read on! Proprietor Olly Melcio tells the District Post: “We’ve had a fantastic year – its going like the clappers! And, what is really pleasing is that we’ve got a good balance of members – male and female – and with a wide age range from students to seniors, of all levels of physical ability. They’re all like-minded people, eager to stay fit. We assess what they’re after and give them what they need and want. I love working here because it’s such a friendly place with everyone on a first name basis.” Olly and co-director Matt Young worked locally together for several years as personal trainers for a national gym and were keen to branch out, setting up their own business to provide bespoke conditioning facilities, Matt saying: “We cater for all requirements, from the achievement and maintenance of general fitness through to Olympic standard for the more serious athlete. We’ve also got an injury and sports rehab unit run by Alan Dean in his in-house Smarter Performance clinic.”
Equipment at Dual Strength + Fitness is state of the art, including cardiovascular and rowing machines, cross trainers, treadmills and spin bikes. And, among the functional training items there are kettlebells, medicine balls, dumbbells up to 50kg, slam balls, 4 squat racks and battle ropes. There is a highly-motivated team of qualified, passionate personal trainers on hand using the latest training techniques to develop and monitor bespoke fitness programmes, one to one or for couples. And, there are classes for those simply looking to keep trim in an enthusiastic group. It is also possible to rent space at the gym for private groups to train.
Olly continues: “Our younger members love communicating with each other, interacting via social media and we’ve had some great feedback on Facebook (with over 1700 likes). We’ve got plenty of room and upstairs there’s an area where members can chill out with a refreshing drink or coffee after their work outs and we’re absolutely delighted to announce that two members that met here are buying their first house together!” Matt adds: “We are not the only gym in Horsham so we need to be on our mettle – it’s all about staying ahead of the competition! We try hard to build up good relationships with our members and it’s really great when they act as ambassadors for us. We are open early till late seven days a week and, amazingly, there was a demand for us to open on Christmas Day, which we were more than happy to do – there was a great atmosphere! We can also provide nutritional advice and have a large portfolio of heath and fitness supplements on offer.”
Dual Strength + Fitness are proud to be part of the Horsham community and insist on using local companies and suppliers when any maintenance work is required at the gym. They are also pleased to have raised funds through Sports Relief and hosting a coffee morning for Macmillan’s cancer support.
