A man who bit off the lip of another man in a late night fight has been jailed for four and a half years.
Patrick Doran, 25, unemployed, of West Chiltington Lane, Billingshurst, was involved in a fight between two groups of people near the junction of New Steine and Marine Parade in Brighton at about 12.15am on August 30 last year, police reported.
A court heard that during the incident, Doran was seen to be holding his 45-year-old victim’s head with both hands and biting his bottom lip. The man later required surgery at Eastbourne District General Hospital for his injuries.
Doran has appeared at Chichester Crown Court for sentencing, where he received six years’ imprisonment, reduced to four-and-a-half years for an early guilty plea to the charge of grievous bodily harm with intent.
