The vintage VW Show is coming to Horsham on Sunday June 5 – showcasing a rally of classic air-cooled vehicles and there will be a VW cruise in coming up from show sponsors VW Heritage in Shoreham on the morning of the show, setting off at 8.30am and driving through Henfield and Cowfold. VW Heritage have restored countless Volkswagens and are a renowned source for even the most obscure parts. In addition to the large display of VWs in the Carfax there will be many more on show in front of the Parkside building in North Street, next to the Black Jug pub. Event organiser Plum Jacobs told the District Post: “This is our first VW show in Horsham and we’re very pleased with the numbers of VWs that have already registered to appear on the day. VW enthusiasts are used to gathering in rural settings and so are absolutely delighted that they’ll have such lovely prime town centre locations for our show. Horsham District Council have given us great support and help with the staging of the event.” Garry Mortimer-Cooke, Horsham’s Town Centre & Events Manager adds: “It will be really great to have the VWs here! Horsham has established itself as pleasant and successful venue for the growing list of major events that we host in the town. June 5 is going to be another big day for Horsham – along with the VW Show we’ll have the first French Market of the year, the Vintage Fair and the Cancer Research Race for Life will be running through the town, so there’ll be something for everybody. The VW Show is a welcome new addition to our calendar of activities and we hope it’ll become an annual event.”

Plum and her family are ardent fans of VW Campervans, saying: “We’ve owned them for years, just loving them and our two kids really enjoy them for our holidays!” And, Plum loves sharing her interest by hiring out her stunningly stylish fully reconditioned Campervans with an ever growing community of followers eager to savour the bygone age of flares and flower power. Based in Southwater Plum’s classic retro campers in pastel livery are fully equipped with everything needed – including USB stereo and DVD players – for up to fours adults and two children and even a well-behaved pooch. The vans are very reliable, but AA coverage is included and expert advice is on hand to ensure that hirers have a really different break, Plum saying: “The surprisingly versatile and spacious campers are terrific fun to drive on leisurely cruise holidays along our country lanes – we’ve got an ideal starting point from which to launch a character-filled holiday with an all too rare taste of freedom! And those attending the show have the opportunity to win a taster two night hire, which could lead to a life-long love affair with Campervans!” On June 5 the iconic vintage VWs from far and wide will be on display from 10.30 until departure at around 15.00.
