Burglars smashed their way into the John Lewis At Home store in Albion Way Horsham during the night.
The broke a large window and climbed in taking electronics items such as laptops and tablets, and causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. Items were cut from security chains.
Manager Nigel Davis praised staff who came in to tidy up the store so it could open today.
He said: “We have got lots of partners (staff) who live locally and they came in to help.
“It’s horrible being broken into but the important thing is no-one was hurt.”
There were no staff in the store at the time of the break-in, which was about midnight, although there were staff in the adjoining Waitrose store.
The broken window has been boarded up.
