Horsham Sparrows 

Under 15 boys – In a close game played in the park, Horsham Sparrows Under 15s ran out close winners against Heron Olympic.

In very windy conditions, Sparrows took the lead against the run of play from a free kick converted by Benedict C. Heron equalised before the break and the second half saw Sparrows take the lead with another long range free kick from Paul G. Some resolute defending and a missed penalty meant Sparrows hung on to take all 3 points. Man of the match was Tom D.

Under 16 boys – Horsham Sparrows U16 played their return league game away to Ashington Cougars on a windy Saturday morning at Steyning. Nathan P. opened the scoring early for Sparrows, and after several near miss attempts at goal and solid goalkeeping from Ashington, Alex C clinched Sparrows second shortly before the half time whistle blew. Sparrows positivity and teamwork throughout the second half was rewarded when David H took the third, and Alex C the fourth goal off the right post, to secure the 3 points. Man of the Match was Nathan P.

Chesworth Rovers U15 6 – 4 Lingfield U15

Chesworth Rovers maintained their title challenge with a win over Lingfield in very difficult conditions. On a heavy pitch and in swirling wind Chesworth fought their way to an early 2-0 lead against dogged opponents through lovely finishes by Harry Bryant and Jamie Maunder.  Lingfield battled back well and Chesworth couldn’t relax despite going 4-1 up and then 5-2 after strikes from Tim Bennett, Ben Harrison and Michael Murray.  Lingfield pulled back to 5-4 with twenty minutes left and only a Murray penalty eight minutes from time made the game safe for Rovers.

Chesworth Rovers U12’s 7 – 0 Royal Utd

Saturday saw Hurricane Toby sweep into North Horsham as Chesworth Rovers were  looking to extend their lead on the top of the A Division. Toby opened the scoring with a superb hat-trick, Seb Tom and Ben L then added to the tally before Ben E sealed the win for all 3 points. Game 2, Chesworth 4 – 0 Royals. Jake and Fletch both netted before Ben E grabbed a brace to end the day well for the Claret and Blue.

Jarvis Brook Juniors 4 – 0 Loxwood Youth

Loxwood Youth gave an excellent performance to beat resurgent Jarvis Brook Juniors and make it five out of five in the league.  A frenetic start in high winds saw a scoreline of 2-2 after just nine minutes and the teams were still level at 3-3 early in the second half before Loxwood begun to pull away with some strong and skilful play in the conditions.  Although Jarvis Brook managed another couple of goals, six second half strikes for the visitors wrapped up a very good win.  Michael Murray (4), Jamie Maunder (2), Ben Peppercorn, Tim Bennett and Archie Talbot were on target for the Young Magpies.

Roffey Robins Athletic U16 2 – 1 Copthorne U16.

Robins worked hard to earn this vital home win against tough opposition. As a result they rise to 3rd in the U16 Div C table. Athletic created numerous chances but were denied by the crossbar and a string of saves by Copthorne’s keeper. However, it was Copthorne who came closest in the first half but were denied by keeper Sam Chantrill’s brave point blank save. Ben Gibbs opened the scoring for Robins when he pounced on a loose ball. Shortly after, Copthorne equalised through Owen Lawrence. The game seemed destined for a draw, but the deadlock was finally broken when a high back-pass, assisted by the wind, sailed into the Copthorne net.
