The biggest crowd at Gorings Mead for many a year is expected on Bank Holiday Monday, December 28, when Horsham have a ‘home’ fixture against their landlords Horsham YMCA.
Both clubs are having excellent seasons and both are very much in the running for promotion to the Ryman League. Going into the match Horsham are in third place on 45 points and YM sit in fifth spot on 44 points. Amazingly, with history at both clubs going back to the nineteenth century, this is the first league clash between the two Horsham clubs. They last met in a competitive fixture on October 25, 2011, when the Hornets beat YM 3-2 in a tight Sussex Senior Cup tie.
The eagerly awaited league match on Monday kicks off at 2.00pm and represents a great opportunity for Horsham families to take in some fresh air, and to perhaps also take in their first ever local football match. All supporters are invited to a light buffet in the clubhouse after the match.
On the same day Loxwood host Broadbridge Heath FC at their Plaistow Road ground. The kick off for this match is 11.00am enabling football fans to take in both games. Following these matches another two local derbies take place on January 2.
