A man from Horsham was killed after being struck by a car while out walking.
Police are investigating the incident at the A264 dual carriageway north of Horsham at its junction with Old Holbrook.
The collision happened at 12.58am on Sunday involving a white Mercedes Benz CLA 220 car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 51-year-old man from Horsham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car driver, a 42-year-old man from Billingshurst, was uninjured.
The A264 was closed in both directions between the Rusper Road and Great Daux roundabouts for several hours while investigation and recovery work took place. The road re-opened at 10.55am.
