A dark night at the end of October saw searchlights piercing the skies above Horsham, signalling the Regional Charity Gala Screening of James Bond’s latest film, Spectre, which took place at The Capitol. This charity event was organised by Horsham Rotary LINC (part of the Rotary Club of Horsham) – a new innovative Rotary group, with a dynamic approach to working towards improving the lives of young people in Horsham.
Guests at this black tie evening were given the full red carpet treatment, with a glass of bubbly on arrival and canapés, with bond-esque cocktails, provided by the talented team from The Dead Parrot in Horsham. During the pre-screening reception, all enjoyed a fantastic vocal performance from Hannah May and captivated by magic tricks from Lee Burridge. In return for a charity donation, there was an opportunity to have a professional Bond photograph taken by Toby Phillips.
Just before the film started, Chair of Horsham Rotary LINC, Rebecca Batchelor, took to the stage to carry out the Diamond Draw. Each guest had been given a ticket to win a real diamond (worth over £1000) and many guests had generously purchased additional draw tickets during the pre-screening reception. The diamond, in true exciting Bond style, went on to raise an incredible further £900, during an impromptu auction.
To the delight of the audience, the latest James Bond offering was packed with gadgets, supercars, stunts, amazing locations and the best one-liners, delivered in true Bond style!!
Following the film, many guests attended the after party at Wabi, in East Street, which offered a special Bond inspired cocktail menu. Organisers, Horsham Rotary LINC, ended what was a fabulous charity event, with a few celebratory cocktails!
The event raised a spectacular amount, in excess of £2,500, which will be put towards local community projects. The group would like to thank everyone, who attended, for their generosity and for making the event a great success.
