Race favourite James Baker of Chichester Runners & Athletics Club won the Men’s Barnes Green Half Marathon for a record fifth time in a time of 1:11:06 last Sunday.
Mannings Heath’s Amy Harris of Horsham Amphibians Club won the Women’s race in a personal best time of 1:22:02.
Both winners achieved success at the race despite having recent injury setbacks.
James said: “I’ve had a few injuries so it was hard work and I was a bit down on my best time. But, despite the hills this is my favourite course”.
Amy was hit by a car nine weeks ago and said “I wasn’t sure whether I’d be able to compete but I managed a personal best time.”
The race was held on behalf of this year’s charity, Prostate Cancer UK, and was started by former Faces and Who drummer Kenney Jones who has undergone treatment for the disease.
