Teenage woman dies after crash

A 19-year-old woman died after her car crashed into a tree.

Alexandra Giddings, of Brighton Road, Shermanbury, died in hospital from her injuries.

The tragic accident has led to Sussex Police appealing for any potential witnesses to the accident to come forward.

Fire fighters released Alexandra from her damaged Citroen C1 after the crash on the B2116, Shermanbury Road, east of Partridge Green, which happened at about 10pm on Thursday of last week.

Crews from Partridge Green and Henfield helped free Alexandra, who was the only person in the car and who lived not far from the scene of the crash.

An ambulance took her to the Royal Sussex County Hospital  at Brighton, and she died a few hours later on Friday morning from her injuries.
Sussex Police are asking anyone who saw what happened to contact them via collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting Operation Halton.
