A video of a man narrowly escaping death at Littlehaven rail crossing in Horsham has been issued as a warning to deter people from trespassing on railways.
The man was eventually prosecuted, and the video of him forms part of Network Rail’s current ‘No Going Back’ campaign.
The man is shown cycling along the platform before throwing his cycle to the floor and making a quick dash along the tracks.
He stumbles and almost gets hit by a train, with it missing him by only seconds.
Network Rail said the man was arrested and prosecuted for malicious intent for the incident, which was caught on video in 2011.
He was sentenced to four months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months and required to undertake 120 hours of unpaid work.
